Current Information:Born-London Fosse10 Communal Cemetery, Sains-en-Gohelle, France 23rd Royal Fusiliers landed in France in November, 1915, as part of 99 Brigade, 33rd Division but within a few days the brigade had transferred to 2nd Division. In April, 1916, 2nd Division were holding the line at Souchez, just to the north of Arras and between 21st and 25th April, 23rd Royal Fusiliers were in the front line there. It was here on 24th April, 1916 that Francis Forster was killed in action. The battalion diary does not go into details. |
